Master the basics of photography by learning to shoot your digital camera with complete control. Topics will include shooting in manual mode, pro techniques for using a light meter and how it can make you a better photographer, why you should stop shooting JPGs and learn to love RAW and post-shoot workflow. You will need a digital camera that has a manual setting.
We will concentrate on use of studio lighting techniques as applied to photographing shibari (rope bondage) sessions. All skill levels will benefit from attendance. Subjects to be covered include, lighting ratios, light modifiers, and how to use light to emphasize form and line.
A little bit about me:I began my career as a photojournalist, while still in my teens. I have worked for The Boston Globe, The Boston Herald, and the Associated Press. While completing projects for clients like Hewlett-Packard, BBN, and CERN (I actually got to shoot indside the CERN super collider!), I traveled extensively throughout Europe and North America. During the early 90's, I began to pursue other interests, including studio photography featuring artificial light set-ups, as well as bondage and fetish art. My alternative style was well-received by the BDSM communities in Boston and New York City. My publication in the fetish field include Skin Two, Marquis, and SECRET. My work has also been displayed in gallery shows in Boston, New York and Chicago. In 2007, Goliath Books published Real Girls, a collection of my pin-up and alt-glamour photography. I am currently working on a new book of bondage photography.
